Train for a beautiful career...

Train for a beautiful career...

Do you dream of an exciting career in the beauty industries? Start here at  professional Training Organisation - Feel Good Futures in Stockport...!

Emma Barton is one of the founders of the Academy and has been involved within the training industry for the best part of 15 years. Along side her business partners, she felt that there was an exciting opportunity to really build a great training business focusing on the Clinical and Holistic beauty sectors.

Emma's instinct was spot on - and since launching the first Feel Good Futures Academy – their original premises have already doubled in size, such is the demand and popularity of the courses!

Emma Barton

Juggling a job and / or busy family life and finances can be daunting when you're considering enrolling on a course for the first time. Feel Good Futures offer Government-backed funding for many of their courses, plus the flexibility to train around your lifestyle so there really is no excuse to put your future on hold any longer!

Currently enrolling again for their new Level 3 Diploma VTCT accredited in Beauty Therapy Massage (one of their most popular qualifications) to learn about Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Self Tanning and much more – Feel Good Futures also run specialist short courses in subjects like Microblading, Facials, Eyebrows and Eyelash Extensions (to name but a few…!)  So, what course are you going to enrol on with Feel Good Futures?!

Here we have a chat with Emma to find out more behind the scenes at the aptly named Feelgood House…

So, firstly Emma, we love 'Feel Good Futures' it's a great brand name for your beauty training Academy! How did you come up with the name?

The name came from the Team here talking about what we wanted the business to feel like. We've seen people grow and flourish in Training and we wanted to reflect that. It's been a bit of agift for branding and marketing!

How long has Feel Good Futures been open?

We launched in October last year and we've been really pleased with the way the first 6 months have gone so far.

Who do your courses cater for?

We cater for students who are looking to enter the beauty industry and those who are already working within the sector and are looking to develop their skills.

Can potential students come in to the Academy before enrolling?

Yes we encourage anyone that is considering a course to come by. We also hold regular informal 'Open Days' which is a great opportunity to meet the Tutors, the students and the Feel Good team and see all our facilities first hand. You can ask all the questions and be armed with the information you need to make the decision that's right for you!

Take us through a typical day at the Academy when a course is running - what could a new student expect?

Our training day starts at 9.00, but the Academy is open from 8am, the students arrive and grab a coffee or a tea in our break out area, they can relax and read the paper or mainly everyone just has a chat and a catch up. Training starts at 9.15 and goes through till about 3.30, the courses we deliver are quite intensive so the training day goes quite quickly.

How flexible are the courses, can people learn whilst they are still in employment or fit around their lifestyle / family with ease?

There is really no other commitment apart from 1 day a week in centre and commitment to attend every week for 20 weeks plus there is homework and practical work that needs to be completed at home.

So yes, you can be employed, unemployed, it really doesn't matter. And the fact that our training day finishes at 3.30 means that everyone can get home for the kids if they have them.

How do you students get practical treatment experience whilst they are on a course - does the Academy provide models?

Yes, we have people coming in all the time for treatments. The students can bring their own models but we are growing a good reputation so we are busy with bookings.

For someone interested in applying who has no previous beauty experience - what advice would you offer in helping him or her select the right course for a beginner?

It depends on what element of the beauty industry they are really interested in; we find that out and then match our courses to the individual.

Does Feel Good Futures also cater for qualified beauty professionals who want to study for higher-level diplomas?

Yes, we have the Level 4 Diploma for Permanent Hair Removal and Skin rejuvenation which is a fantastic course for people working within the beauty industry who are looking to develop their skills in to the clinical and aesthetics areas.

We are also launching a new Microblading course, which is aimed at people who currently work in the beauty sector or who hold the pre requisite qualifications to be able to do this course.

Tell us about the Academy itself, what are the facilities?

We have 2 private treatment rooms, 2 large practical treatment rooms plus 2 big learning rooms for the written work, plus a really lovely break out area with a television and papers and refreshmentareas. Oh and we have spray tanning rooms so we have plenty of space.

Do you have plans to roll out more courses / academies around the North West?

Yes we do, we are looking to open another centre very shortly, and we will keep you posted..!

Do you have any favourite Cheshire bolt holes?

Oh many! I live near Tarporley so my favourite pubs is The Yew Tree in Bunbury. I also love Knutsford and Wilmslow, so you name them and I've been there! We do like to relax at Feel Good Futures...!
