Review: The Beauty Barn Astbury

Review: The Beauty Barn Astbury

Those who love both the great outdoors and animals will adore the Beauty Barn, a boutique salon nestled in the picturesque village of Astbury on the outskirts of Congleton.

Located in a rural setting at Glebe Farm in the rolling Cheshire countryside, the Beauty Barn provides a real treat to those looking to combine a beauty procedure with a bit of fresh air, spot of lunch or even afternoon tea with a slice of homemade cake!

As you drive through Astbury village past the impressive St Mary's Church, which is a gothic building built around the 14th or 15th century, the entrance to Glebe farm is on your right hand side and is clearly marked. The driveway leading up takes you past an array of animals such as goats, llamas, lambs, piglets and a small pony.

The animals are used to attention so are very friendly and eager to greet guests, especially if they have food, so being an animal lover I purchased a bag of carrots for 1 from the onsite farm shop so I could stroke a few before my treatment. There are plenty of washbasins and soap dispensers in the farm courtyard so there is no need to worry about hygiene issues!

There is ample parking available and the Beauty Barn itself is nestled between other shops such as the aforementioned authentic farm shop, which houses fresh produce and a cafe, a hairdressers, yoga centre, gift shop adding to the enjoyable environment.

There is a real family friendly feel about the farm and small children also have the opportunity to go on farm tractor rides or little merry go rounds. There is even a mini Cheshire Ice Cream bar, weather permitting, so if you have your own family you could base your treatment around a day out.

Owner of the Beauty Barn, Katie, has resided at Glebe farm for the last year and specialises in Jessica gel nails. She offers a professional service having trained locally at a beauty school in Cheshire and the treatments are very competitively and reasonably priced; other treatments on offer include eyelash extensions, tinting, waxing, St. Tropez spray tans, Elemis facials and massage.  Enhanced facial treatments including Botox and Dermal Filler treatments can also now be booked at the Beauty Barn.

The treatment I recently chose was Jessica nails in Tea Rose, which is an adorable shimmery nude colour, however there are lots of alternate colours, keeping in trend with the seasons. On arrival you are warmly welcomed with a cold or hot beverage, served in fine china making it very a cosy, warm and enjoyable experience.

During the treatment, Katie makes it a relaxing, pleasant experience by being very friendly, taking her time and showing a real interest in the client and their beauty needs. Having soaked off my gel nails she then applies products which really nourish the nails, followed by the fresh gel application. All in all a very relaxing experience!

I also booked in for the deep cleansing facial treatment which again is relaxing and calming beginning with Katie using a range of cleansers to remove any blocked pores before applying a number of hydration creams to ensure a healthy natural glow is created. Whilst the creams are in the process of hydrating the skin, you are treated to a relaxing head massage, with soft lighting and gentle music creating a thoroughly relaxing ambiance leaving you feeling fully revitalised once the no rush treatment is completed.

Katie specialises in Jessica gel Nails

The Beauty Barn doesn't have set appointment times, but is generally open Monday to Saturday and usually works to a time which suits their clients. There is even the option of a local mobile service on request for special occasions!

Top tip: try not to wear stilettos or similar because it is set in a farm yard so flat shoes, boots or wellies are recommended.
