Piste at the Opera

Piste at the Opera

Piste Wine Bar and Restaurant in Tarpoley oozed operatic elegance and class last weekend as it played host to the exciting vocal duo, Belle Voci.

Returning for the second time this year after a their hugely successful debut Opera Night in March, Belle Voci once again filled both floors with the beautiful operatic sounds of well-loved, classical and musical-theatre tunes. A recently formed, classically trained duo, the pair are Sophie and Emily who, with their pianist Will Ford, bring opera to dining out, weddings, parties and other events to add that touch of class and elegance!

Piste Wine Bar & Restaurant in Tarporley is owned and run by Paul Bebe and James Hughes and even though it only opened it's doors in 2010, it already has an award winning pedigree - winners of the 2013 Taste Cheshire award and Cheshire Restaurant of the Year 2014. And not surprisingly either as it's strong reputation for fine cuisine, offering a high quality, enjoyable dining experience for every customer and the 4 course dinner menu certainly doesn't disappoint, showcasing the restaurants fine dining offering and their dedication to local and seasonal produce - exquisitely delivered at each course to compliment the operatic offering.

Boasting a relaxed and friendly atmosphere reflecting the family's love for all things alpine, the duet began with the soothing sounds of 'Flower Duet', 'Pie Jesu' and 'Barcarolle' to accompany the packed drinks reception on the ground floor where guests enjoyed strawberry champagne cocktails. Once the glasses were cleared and the piano moved upstairs - dinner was served!

It was a packed night at the Opera!

To start, guests were treated to a plum tomato, avocado and mozzarella salad served with basil pesto. Simple, fresh and deliciously creamy, there were clean plates all round.

To follow, once both taste buds and ears were satisfied as 'Dream a Dream' and 'O Mio Babbino Caro' floated down from upstairs, the main course arrived comprised of roasted breast of chicken stuffed with sage, wrapped in Parma ham with sautéed potatoes, shallots and garlic. No sooner had we finished the succulent chicken and sweet, crispy potatoes than plates were whisked away and the piano started up once again.

'Keep the Home Fires Burning' and the beautiful My Fair Lady classic 'I could Have Danced All Night' prepared the restaurant for helpings of rich and creamy, home-made tiramisu. Not a soggy wafer in sight, a definite recommendation if you're after something sweet…

We couldn't resist a piece of tiramisu!

Coffee and Petit Fours were served before the finale floated down from the bannisters and rather apply entitled - 'Time to say Goodbye' and 'Nella Fantasia' - ensured a standing ovation throughout, and the chorus of whistles Belle Voci so rightfully deserved.

An absolutely wonderful evening of powerful music and sumptuous fine food, both Belle Voci and Piste delivered on exceptional levels and no doubt kept people talking for days after. Clearly experts for providing guests with both top quality entertainment as well as fine food and drink, Piste really know how to throw a party; standing ovations all round!

Belle Voci are available for weddings, functions and corporate events and a must-have at any event to add ample octaves of glamour and elegance. Find out more here: Belle Voci.
